The scientific link between Sleep, the Brain and Pain
Why a sleep assessment can make a real difference to pain

“Sleep and pain are intricately linked.
Whenever a physiotherapist sees someone with pain, they should consider the patient’s sleep.”

Sleep and pain are intricately linked
The Z10 Physiotherapist fitted bed and sleep quality assessment initiative was developed in response to research that links reduced sleep quality to increased pain and inflammation, in order to help patients with back and neck pain avoid or delay the need for surgery.
Since then, the service has proven to be a useful tool for physiotherapists for anyone who suffers with pain, wishes to ensure they are properly supported during sleep, to prevent musculoskeletal decline, or to maximise daytime energy or performance.
The system is fully adaptable into the future, and this gives the physiotherapist the opportunity to use it as a tool whenever the patient develops new musculoskeletal concerns.
“As a Physiotherapist...
“I am often been asked to recommend a bed to my patients with pain.
But a traditional bed gives no control over your posture. You just ‘sink in’ to the mattress foam and choose the one you like based on ‘comfort’.
The problem with that is, what feels comfortable, just like a ‘slouch’, is often not a good posture for your body.
So if I recommended you a bed, I could be encouraging a bad sleep posture and making things worse.
The Z10 BodyFit changes all of that.
It’s a new type of bed that gives physiotherapists the ability to reliably adjust your sleep posture in the clinic.
During a fitting appointment, we adjust and control the firmness of the bed in 10 discreet body zones across your body, whilst using a video monitor to track the difference those changes make to ensure you will be in a favourable sleep posture at home.
It’s a game changer. For both physiotherapists and their patients.”

Let me tell you how the physiotherapist bed fitting works.”
Here are some of the common reasons I recommend Z10 bed fittings to my patients
You suffer from Spine or Joint pain.
You wake with or experience Pain, Stiffness or Numbness in bed.
I want a clinically prescribed sleep system.
You want to optimise your recovery overnight and maximise your activity levels.
You want to maximise your sleep quality and reduce arousals.
You have inflamed joints, and want to optimise healing.
You have a unique body shape, as does your partner.
You suffer from unique skeletal condition such as scoliosis.
You want a system that will adapt as your body changes.
